The Canada Council for the Arts offers an international residency program at the Darling Foundry for professional visual artists from outside of Canada.

Two artists will be awarded four-month residencies in 2009.

Each resident will receive a grant to cover living expenses, travel fees and production costs.

Artists are provided with a creation studio with separate living accommodation, common spaces and a wood and metal workshop.

They are also invited to participate in open studio events, studio visits by art professionals, networking activities, and excursions.

Big World SMALL art

Big world…small art.

The Internationale d’art miniature juried art exhibit will present its 5th edition in 2009.
Artists will present their small format and miniature artwork and compete for the $5000 dollars in prize money.


DEADLINE: March 30th 2009


One exhibit, four locations. The works competing for the prizes in the International miniature art exhibit can be seen in two historical rectories converted into art galleries: the Presbytere Saint-Nicolas and the Galerie Louise-Carrier.


Internationale d’art miniature de Levis 5th edition
From June 14 to September 6, 2009.

MINIATURE IN THIS CASE MEANS :

Maximum size cannot exceed a total image area of 75 square centimetres (12 inches).

For example 7.5 X 10 cm or 15 X 5 cm (3 x 4 or 2 x 6 inches) or smaller. The maximum

size of the frame must not measure more than 100 centimetres (40 inches) of perimeter

(total contour). Example 25 + 25 + 25 + 25 cm ( 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 inches).

Three dimensional art work: maximum size cannot exceed 7,5 x 7,5 x 10 cm (3x3x4 inches)

or the equivalent of 560 cubic centimetres (36 inches) including the stand or support.
